What this site is

An honest description of where we are.

Vetted Care is in development. We are building a hospice care partnership with Lily Hospice — a Michigan-licensed, Medicare-certified hospice provider — designed to deliver veteran-focused care to those who served in Southeast Michigan.

We are not yet a clinical operation. We are not yet accepting patients. We are not Medicare-certified ourselves — the Medicare hospice certification belongs to Lily Hospice. This site exists to describe what the partnership will offer when it is operational, to share information about hospice care generally, and to invite conversations with partners, referrers, and the veteran community.

If you or a loved one needs hospice care now, please contact Lily Hospice directly at (248) 955-5100, or any Medicare-certified hospice provider in your area.

More About the Partnership
“The veterans we hope to serve spent their lives holding the line for others. We are building this partnership so the standard of care they receive at the end of life reflects the service they gave.”

— Vetted Care, on its founding mission

The Partnership Model

Two organizations, one mission.

Vetted Care is the federal contracting and veteran-focused leadership of the partnership. Lily Hospice is the Medicare-certified clinical operator. When the partnership is operational, clinical hospice services will be delivered by Lily Hospice under its own license and CMS certification, with Vetted Care responsible for the veteran-focused program design, federal contracting infrastructure, and partnership administration.

Vetted Care

  • Led by Evan Shelline, former U.S. Navy SEAL

  • Does not deliver clinical care, hold a Michigan hospice license, or hold Medicare certification

Lily Hospice

Michigan-Licensed, Medicare-Certified Hospice

  • Medicare-certified hospice provider
  • Michigan-licensed under Public Health Code Part 214
  • ACHC-accredited
  • Will deliver all clinical hospice services under its own license, certification, and CMS Certification Number, with full administrative and financial management retained per 42 CFR 418.100(e)

Why a Veteran-Focused Hospice Partnership

Care that recognizes the uniform.

Veterans face the end of life differently. The memories, the wounds — visible and not — and the bonds with brothers and sisters in arms shape this final season. A hospice team that understands the veteran experience can meet families where they actually are.

Veteran-led leadership

Vetted Care is led by a service-disabled veteran. The partnership’s program design will reflect the discipline, language, and quiet weight veterans carry.

Established clinical operations

Clinical care will be delivered by Lily Hospice under its existing Medicare certification, Michigan license, and ACHC accreditation — not by a new organization learning on the job.

Family-centered planning

The partnership is being designed around the realities of veteran families — service-connected conditions, military memory, VA benefit navigation, and end-of-life honors.

For Veterans

What this partnership is designed to honor.

The partnership is being designed to recognize service-connected conditions, support the spiritual and emotional weight of military memory, coordinate VA benefits, and observe the rituals — including pinning ceremonies and military funeral honors — that mark a life of service. None of these elements are operational yet; they are part of the program being built.

More on the Veteran-Focused Plan
Evan Shelline, Founder of VETTED
Leadership

Built by veterans. Designed with veterans in mind.

Vetted — the parent organization behind Vetted Care — was founded by Evan Shelline, a former U.S. Navy SEAL with more than two decades of operational leadership. Vetted is a Service-Disabled Veteran-Owned Small Business and a federal contractor. Vetted Care is the veteran-focused care line being built within that organization.

We hold ourselves to the standards veterans recognize: clarity of mission, discipline in execution, respect for the person in front of us.
